Getting Ready for EnvisionFest

This Saturday, in Hartford, Connecticut, EnvisionFest comes to life.

According to it's website, "Envisionfest will be held on Saturday, September 19, offering free admission to the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts, the Connecticut Science Center, Connecticut’s Old State House and the Wadsworth Atheneum, along with more than 100 events throughout the city, an artisan marketplace in Bushnell Park and food trucks along Gold Street. Envisionfest Hartford was created to showcase Hartford’s extraordinary cultural wealth and highlight the tenets of the iQuilt Plan: walking, culture and innovation. This day-long festival of art, theater, music, walking, biking, tours and more, brings over 15,000 visitors to downtown Hartford each year."

Art of Tao is working on various pieces for EnvisionFest via Anne Cubberly's Kinetic Dreams

The goal is to create 5 large-scale, cardboard frames and an object in the frame that each represent an institution in Hartford. The frames will be used by attendees of EnvisionFest to take photos placing themselves in the frame with the object. The frame will be 7 feet tall x 6 ft wide. Have a wood triangular backing which will enable the frame to stand upright. The object in the frame will also have a triangular backing enabling it to be free standing.

This is one of the frames before painting.

Work in progress!

This exciting project has been a month in the making, and we look forward to all the photos that will come from it.

Here's the CT Science Center dinosaur, almost ready. This will be a standee you can pose with in a picture. Grrrrrr!
